FESTIVE TREATS FROM BAKEMARK UK

BakeMark UK is launching three new cake mixes in September which will make ideal seasonal lines for cracking Christmas sales!

Under the leading Craigmillar brand, the UK’s leading bakery supplier now offers a new Plain Yoghurt Cake Mix and an Extra Moist Cake Mix in Plain and Chocolate. All three are perfect for making festive treats including fruited loaf cakes and cup cakes, which can be teamed with the newly launched naturally flavoured and coloured Crembel Fudge Icings for fun and merry tasting delights.

The new Extra Moist Cake Mixes in Plain or Chocolate have been developed to offer the consumer a really moist cake which has a premium and indulgent eating experience.

The new Plain Yoghurt Cake Mix, meanwhile, has added yoghurt for a characteristic taste and aroma with a wholesome twist. The sodium content has been reduced in line with the government’s 2010 salt targets and this new mix also provides bakers with the option of offering customers a reduced fat yet indulgent alternative. Bakers simply substitute the oil in the recipe with low fat yoghurt and the egg with egg whites to produce a reduced fat cake – perfect for those customers who are watching their Christmas waistlines!

Christmas Cup Cakes
These scrumptious festive cup cakes will not disappoint even the most discerning cake connoisseur and with sparkling decoration, sales are bound to soar.

The cup cake base can be made using either the new Plain Yoghurt Cake Mix or Extra Moist Cake Mix in Plain or Chocolate and decorated using BakeMark’s newly launched quality Natural Flavour & Colour Crembel Fudge Icing in Chocolate.

To make Rudolph, colour Craigmillar Mellomallo brown and pipe to create his face. Colour sugar paste red to form his nose, and then pipe Mellomallo for the white of his eyes and Mellomallo coloured black for his pupils.

To create a smiley snowman, pipe his face using Mellomallo, then use sugar paste coloured orange for his carrot shaped nose and coloured black for his hat. Use black coloured Mellomallo to pipe his eyes and mouth.

Mark Dickinson, craft baker and Managing Director of Rothbury Home Bakery in Northumberland, said: “We have been using the Crembel toppings for almost a year now to decorate our cup cakes and will be using the toppings again for our Christmas themed cup cakes. The Crembel toppings are very versatile and easy to use – they can be used as an icing to finish cakes off or can be whipped up for a soft spreadable icing. The product is also nice as it uses only natural flavours and colours and is great value for money.”

To finish off both cup cake designs, use Mellomallo to create some seasonal snow effect for perfect presentation.
